Role summary
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Nurse to join their Aural Care Service. This role involves developing specialist otology knowledge and skills to provide high-standard care to patients with outer ear conditions. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining clinical standards and participating in service development. This is a development opportunity, starting at Band 5 and progressing to Band 6 upon successful completion of training and independent clinic work.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a service to Aural Care department patients, ensuring the highest standard of care and support.
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of Aural Care patients and assigned nurse-led services.
- Work as a team with all those involved with the management of Aural Care and otology patients within the trust and wider healthcare sector.
- Act as an expert clinical role model for the Trust.
- Provide support and information to people with outer ear conditions and their families and carers.
- Participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
Essential criteria
- NMC Registration
- Holds or is working towards a degree
- Relevant nursing experience within specialty
- Completion or commitment to undertake relevant extended role scope competencies
- Ability to respond positively to change
- Able to organise own learning and development
Desirable criteria
- Qualification in Speciality
- Teaching/Assessment/Mentoring Qualification
- Previous experience of running nurse led clinics
- Relevant experience of ENT
- Audit or research experience
- Teaching and education experience
- Able to respond to problem situations and to ensure effective interventions are put in place

Job summary
Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust Aural Care Service are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated person to join us as a Specialist Nurse.
The Aural Care Service is a proactive team which is part of the ENT multi-disciplinary team. We are always improving to ensure that the care we provide is evidence based, safe and best practice. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the drive to develop specialist otology knowledge and skills to support the delivery of brilliant care. Our service is self-sufficient so the willingness to engage in service development is essential.
This is a fabulous development opportunity for an experienced nurse. The role commences at a Band 5, moving to a Band 6 on successful completion of the role specific training and commencement of fully independent clinics.
Main duties of the job
The best candidate will be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and in conjunction with the consultant or responsible primary care clinician, and the post holder will develop specialist skills and knowledge to:
