Role summary
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Appointment Booking Office teams at Birmingham Children's and Birmingham Women's Hospital sites. You will provide comprehensive administrative services, delivering an effective call centre and booking service to support patients and carers through their pathway. The position involves accurate data input, booking appointments, and handling enquiries professionally in a busy, patient-centred environment. Essential criteria
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent level - English & Mathematics
- ECDL or equivalent qualifications
- KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE
- Experience in administrative / clerical role
- Experience in patient focused or custom service role
- Ability to make decisions on situations/courses of action which require analysis
- Knowledge and Understanding of the Data protection act 1998 and patient confidentiality
- Knowledge and experience of the e-Referral system / NHS Access Targets
- Demonstrable ability use MS Office packages
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of hospital departments / NHS administrative processes
- Knowledge of patient administration IT systems
- ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS
- Ability to self-motivate and work without supervision as required
- Ability to concentrate frequently when inputting data and answering queries.
- Ability to deal sensitively and compassionately with patient / carers / colleagues as necessary
- PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE
- Willing to learn and develop work role in line with performance development expectations.
- Committed to undertaking training to fulfil the requirements of the role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and multi-task
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Team working
