Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 5 Oncology Research Nurse interested in clinical research. You will deliver the oncology portfolio within the clinical research facility, focusing on SACT delivery to research participants. The position involves working on commercial and academic studies, developing in-depth knowledge of trial protocols, and administering various therapeutic cancer treatments. You will also have opportunities to enhance communication, organization, and time management skills.

Essential criteria

  • *Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC Register
  • *Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
  • *Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing
  • *SACT Passport or equivalent
  • *Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting
  • *Experience of delivering SACT in oncology setting
  • *Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/ competence
  • *Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others
  • *Willingness to become a Mentor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements for mentorship
  • *Understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct
  • *Understanding of preceptorship and work-based learning and assimilation of skills and knowledge
  • *Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context
  • *Understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding and Mental Capacity
  • *Awareness of health and safety issues

Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic, dynamic, clinical oncology nurse, with an interest in Research, wanting to make the next step in your career?

Within research we currently have a Band 5 position available within the clinical research facility, delivering the oncology portfolio with particular focus on the delivery of SACT to our research participants.

So, if you are experienced in Oncology and the delivery of Cancer Therapies, our post could be an exciting opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and skills in the field of research.

In this role you will be part of a team delivering high quality research from a range of commercial and academic studies from complex interventional studies through to observational studies. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of trial protocols; research processes and you will support the delivery of our expanding research portfolios. You will have the opportunity to further develop interpersonal communication, organization, time management, & documentation skills.

You will administer a range of therapeutic cancer treatments for trials across a range of disease areas within the oncology field, including but not limited to; chemotherapy, immunotherapy and monoclonal antibody therapies.
