Role summary
This role is for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Quality Assurance Aseptic Specialist to join the Pharmacy Aseptic Services team at Velindre Cancer Centre. The specialist will ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality production of medicines, contributing to the Pharmacy Quality Management System and driving continuous improvement. They will supervise technical staff, coordinate document control, lead investigations and audits, and champion quality principles within the service. This is a 12-month fixed-term position to cover maternity leave.
Essential criteria
- National accreditation certificate for pre and in-process checking with aseptic processes
- Registration with a relevant professional body
- Demonstrable expertise and knowledge of technical aspects of aseptic services equivalent to pharmacy degree level.
- An up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice
- Computing skills, ability to use Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook
- To hold a NVQ Assessor's qualification and have experience of training and mentoring staff

- Accredited Product Approver
- Significant post qualification pharmacy technical experience with substantial experience of aseptic services
- To have demonstrable experience of supervising/managing staff
- Experience of training staff
- Experience of training a large staff group
- Experience of implementing change

- Able to organise own time and that of others
- Able to prioritise workload and that of others, ensuring that the work is completed within project timescales

- Able to work accurately with attention to detail
- Demonstrates initiative
- Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacy person to join our Pharmacy Aseptic Services team as the Senior Quality Assurance Aseptic Specialist. It is an exciting time to join our team as we look to April 2027 when we move into the new Velindre Cancer Centre, and have a brand new aseptic unit to validate.
You will need to have demonstratable experience in aseptic services and quality assurance. You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and evidence of developing leadership qualities.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months.
