Role summary
This is a Band 5 Staff Nurse position in Paediatric Intensive Care for a dynamic and friendly team. Key responsibilities
- Work with the ward manager and multi-disciplinary team in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development.
- Provide direct quality patient care to high dependency and intensive care level patients.
- Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision following preceptorship, demonstrating procedures and supervising unqualified staff.
- Be flexible and use evidence-based practice to actively participate in the progression of nursing within West London Children's Healthcare (WLCH).
Essential criteria
- RSCN or RN (child)
- Graduated at Diploma/Degree/MSc Level
- Able to work under pressure
- Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- 12months experience post qualification.
- Able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work within a team and independently.
- Awareness of audit & research
- A willingness to participate in continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Capital IV Passport
- Mentorship/ SSSA Training
- Experience or participant in change management - positive change agent.
- RSCN or RN (child) with acute care experience
- For specialist areas able to demonstrate knowledge of patient group
- Knowledge of basic research and audit concepts
- Mentoring skills.

Job summary
We are looking for a Band 5 Nurse with at least 12 months post qualification experience to complement our existing nursing team and to work within our dynamic and friendly team.
The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of skilled and highly motivated staff who provide quality care to children with a wide variety of conditions including medical, surgical, trauma, orthopaedics plastics, ENT and the largest Bone Marrow Transplant Centre non-malignant blood cancers .
We provide specialist education at every level, including the opportunity for Band 5 Nurses to undertake the Paediatric Critical Care Course and specialist training, such as Haemafiltration. We have the support of 2 dedicated Family Liaison Nurses who support our families and staff through a culture of caring and compassionate working.
