Role summary

This role involves supporting the delivery of evidence-based Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes in community venues across Stoke-on-Trent. The instructor will help create a safe and supportive environment for patients, monitor them during exercise, and provide encouragement and health promotion advice. It requires working closely with Physiotherapists and other Allied Health Professionals, maintaining equipment, and accurate clinical records.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting and delivering Pulmonary Rehabilitation exercise sessions.
  • Monitoring patients during exercise and responding appropriately to concerns.
  • Setting up and maintaining rehabilitation equipment.
  • Providing encouragement, health promotion and physical activity advice.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and supporting administrative tasks.
  • Working closely with Physiotherapists, Nurses and Assistant Practitioners.

Essential criteria

  • Sports Instructor/ Fitness qualification at Level 2 or willingness to complete training
  • English and Maths GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent
  • Quality credit framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ or OCN which is transferable into the role
  • Understanding of the role of Allied Health professionals in delivering physical health care in a community setting
  • Relevant experience working within health, social care settings which provides transferable knowledge and skills
  • Basic knowledge of some conditions relevant to the clinical area and the effects of illness on function
  • Self-motivation for Continued Professional Development

Desirable criteria

  • BSc in sports science
  • Experience of working with people with long term Conditions and chronic health needs and supporting their physical health/fitness as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of being a service user or carer
