Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced School Nurse to join the integrated Warrington 0-19 Public Health Nursing team. The role involves delivering the full school-aged Public Health Nursing offer, including universal, targeted, and community-based interventions, managing a varied caseload, and providing high-quality, evidence-based care to children, young people, families, and schools. The successful candidate will contribute to improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities within the community.
Key responsibilities
- Work as the named School Health Nurse for identified High Schools, colleges, and primary schools.
- Manage a defined caseload, using a public health approach to promote the physical and mental health of the school-aged population.
- Lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19, coordinating public health interventions and supporting vulnerable children.
- Undertake comprehensive health assessments and contribute to the national immunisation programme for school-aged children.
- Work collaboratively with partnership agencies to safeguard and protect children and young people.
- Provide confidential support and advice, and organise health promotional and educational activities in schools and community settings.
Essential criteria
- Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification
- Active UK NMC registration
- Registered non-medical nurse prescriber
- Evidence of additional training relevant to role (motivational interviewing / Solihull approach / NBO)

- Experience of multi-agency working
- Experience of working with different communities including minority and ethnic groups
- Experience of community development working
- Evidence of on-going personal and professional development.
- Understanding of community development approaches.
- Effective time management skills.
- The ability to write and present clear and effective reports.
- The ability to work as part of a Team and autonomously.
- Ability to prioritise and delegate workload.
- Ability to demonstrate in depth knowledge of child development and child protection issues and legislation.
