Role summary
Join the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) as a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse. This busy 16-bedded unit provides rapid assessment, treatment, and ongoing care for patients across various surgical specialties, including General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Maxillofacial, and Orthopaedics. You will also support a Surgical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service. As part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality patient care, working closely with surgical teams and allied health professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a Named Nurse, maintaining accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.
- Coordinate patients' discharge arrangements in accordance with the RUH Discharge Policy.
- Promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals.
- Educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.
- Complete patient documentation to Trust standard.
- Maintain a safe ward/department environment.
