Role summary
The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated Resuscitation Officer to join its established service. This role involves delivering adult and paediatric resuscitation training to various staff grades and disciplines, as well as training in managing deteriorating patients. The post holder will also undertake service-related projects, attend resuscitation calls, and deputise for the Senior Resuscitation Officer. Successful candidates will have recent clinical experience in acute/critical care settings.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver resuscitation training (adult, paediatric & newborn) to all grades/disciplines of staff.
- Support monitoring of standards and protocols, including audit and evaluation of resuscitation procedures.
- Support the collection, appraisal and recording of accurate information for national and local audits/research.
- Attend clinical resuscitation calls, provide team leadership, monitor performance, and offer debriefing/clinical supervision.
- Investigate in-patient cardiac arrests as per policy and initiate/engage with subsequent actions.
- Support the Trust's focus on recognition of the deteriorating patient through education, audit, investigative processes and simulation.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (adult, child or neonatal field), Registered Paramedic, HCPC registration in a role.
- Recent experience in resuscitation practice
- Happy to communicate in person, by phone, via teams, e-mail
- Teaching/training experience or a demonstrated and enthusiastic interest to engage in teaching/training with clear reasoning as to why this has not yet been achieved.
- Post registration critical or acute care experience
- Critical or acute care background
- Recent experience in resuscitation practice
- Embraces simulation as a training strategy
- Supervisory skills
- Excellent communication skills (Verbal and non-verbal)

Reporting to the Senior Resuscitation Officer, the post holder will deliver adult and paediatric resuscitation training to all grades and disciplines of staff plus training in recognition and management of the deteriorating patient. The post will also involve undertaking defined projects related to the service (i.e. audits), attending resuscitation calls on the St Mary's site and deputising for the Senior Resuscitation Officer as required.
