Role summary
This is a development opportunity for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to progress from a Band 5 to a Band 6 Senior Primary Care Nurse within Prison Healthcare Services at HMP Bronzefield. The role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centred healthcare in a secure environment, covering primary care, long-term condition management, mental health, substance misuse, and urgent/emergency response. Successful candidates will complete a structured set of competencies and training, with progression to Band 6 expected within 12-18 months. Newly qualified nurses will also complete a Preceptorship Programme.
Essential criteria
- Registered Adult Nurse
- Evidence of personal and professional development in Nursing since Registration
Desirable criteria
- Post registration qualification appropriate to speciality
- Mentorship or practice assessor certification
- Chronic disease management or long term condition qualification
- Previous Experience
- Practical experience of providing high quality care and exceeding expectations.
- Experience of providing and receiving supervision
- Experience of running clinics
- Experience of systmone IT system
- Experience of working within a secure environment / prison
- Skills, Knowledge, Abilites
- Knowledge of medication rounds and the safe storage and administration of drugs.
- Knowledge of clinical audit process and an ability to use audit tools.
- Ability to assess plans, implement and evaluate patient care & act accordingly if untoward changes occurred
- Knowledge of risk assessment and management and its implementation.
- Able to use computer software packages such as MS Word and Excel.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage work under pressure
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality
- Understand the different roles of the multi-disciplinary team and own role within it
- Ability to demonstrate evidence-based practice & understanding of clinical governance in maintaining quality of care
