Role summary
This Health Visitor role involves leading the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme for children aged 0-5 and their families in Somerset. You will provide leadership and supervision to the Public Health Team, ensuring appropriate delegation and adherence to local policies. The role requires taking responsibility for child outcomes, collaborating with partners, and promoting the physical, mental, and emotional health and wellbeing of families. You will also contribute to multi-agency early support assessments.
Essential criteria
- Leadership programme or prepared to undertake a
- course.
- Proven clinical and managerial leadership ability
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the Public Health
- and Preventative Strategy.
- Working knowledge of child protection procedures and
- policies.
- Registered Health Visitor
- Public Health Specialist Practitioner Degree or Post
- Graduate diploma (or equivalent qualification pre-1988).
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Ability to organise and deliver education on a 1-1 or
- group setting.
- Required to have responsibility for a caseload and
- delegate appropriately, with ability to organise and
- prioritise workload.
- Ability to lead teams Public Health Nurses, Staff
- nurses and Assistant Practitioners.
- Report writing knowledge and skills.
- IT Competent.
- Maintain records as per NMC Guidelines/local policy. E
- Audit and research skills. E
- Ability to speak fluent English as stated in Part 7 of the
- Immigration Act (2016). E

Job summary
The salary for this post is in line with Agenda for Change Band 6, which has a current salary range of £39,959 to £48,117 per annum (£23,975 to £28,870 pro rata for 22.5 hours per week)
- 22.5 hours per week.
- Based in Higbridge.

Main duties of the job
Were working to improve the lives of children under 0-5 and their families in Somerset and youll be a key part of that. You will:
- Lead on the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme as defined within the service specification, identifying packages of care based on the Universal, Targeted and Specialist models of service delivery.
- Provide leadership and supervision to other members of the Public Health Team ensuring you delegate appropriately to other team members and work within somerset Local Authority policies and procedures.
- Take responsibility for the outcomes of the children and collaborate with key partners to address identified public health needs.
- Develop and foster effective professional relationships and networks with families and other key partners.
