Role summary
This role provides comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the Laboratory Medicine Management Team, Clinical Lead, and Service Manager. Key duties include managing electronic diaries, organising meetings, and providing secretarial services to the Laboratory Medicine Board. The post holder will also be part of the Patient Care Team, manning the helpline, call centre, and reception desk, dealing with enquiries, and assisting with patient appointments and specimen handling. Additional responsibilities involve distributing pathology reports and ordering consumables.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain electronic diaries for the Laboratory Medicine Management Teams, scheduling and rescheduling appointments and meetings.
- Provide efficient secretarial services to the Clinical Lead, Service Manager, Admin & Support Services Manager, and laboratory management team.
- Offer administrative and secretarial support to the Laboratory Medicine Board and its subcommittees, including producing agendas, meeting papers, and taking minutes.
- Man the Lab Medicine Helpline, Call Centre, and Reception desk on a rotational basis, acting as first-line contact for enquiries, making patient appointments, and greeting patients.
- Assist with timely distribution of pathology reports, including mailing, uploading to NHS electronic systems, and updating the Lab Information System.
- Order consumables using NHS systems like NHS Supply Chain and Centros Integra, and upload documentation to the Department's Quality Management System Database (QPulse).
Essential criteria
- English GCSE Grade 4/C or above
- Maths GCSE Grade 4/C or above
