Role summary
This is a Band 6 Wheelchair Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) role within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Wheelchair Team, part of the Specialist Rehabilitation Service. It's a 12-month fixed-term contract, 20 hours per week, based at Seacroft Hospital. The role involves providing specialist assessment and intervention for individuals with complex mobility and postural needs, focusing on wheelchair and seating interventions. Comprehensive support and training will be provided, but a strong clinical background in long-term conditions, postural management, and pressure care is required. The successful candidate will also demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Wheelchair Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Wheelchair Team within the Specialist Rehabilitation Service on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. This is a 0.53 WTE (20 hours per week -preferred working days Monday, Tuesday and Friday) position based at Leeds Wheelchair Service, Seacroft Hospital.
The Specialist Rehabilitation Service encompasses the Prosthetic, Orthotic and Wheelchair Services, providing specialist assessment and intervention to individuals with a wide range of complex needs. Previous experience within a Wheelchair Service is not essential, as comprehensive support, supervision, and training will be provided by the established multidisciplinary team.
However, the successful candidate will have a strong clinical background in the management of long-term conditions, postural management, and pressure care, to deliver patient-centred assessments and using advanced clinical reasoning skills to plan interventions. The candidate should demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills to support the whole team.
