Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Emergency Nurse Practitioner to join the team at Whipps Cross University Hospital. The successful candidate will be an experienced autonomous nurse practitioner, responsible for managing and leading a busy nurse-led minor injuries unit within the Emergency Department. They will deliver high standards of patient care, motivate staff, and drive improvements to achieve an outstanding Emergency Department.
Key responsibilities
- Provide enthusiastic, passionate and innovative nursing leadership to day-to-day operational management and running of the Emergency Department.
- Support staff development.
- Ensure innovative ways of working are introduced.
- Act as an advocate to local & trust wide agenda's.
- Contribute to making the department an outstanding place to work and visit.
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent and relevant experience as RN
- Minor Injuries course
- Specialist A&E/ED course or working towards Mentorship Course or Equivalent
- Relevant ED experience
- ALS or equivalent
- Clinical experience within Emergency Care
- Evidence of continual professional development of self and others
- Service quality improvement in practice
- Knowledge of current and emerging NHS strategy and policy
- Audit and analysis skills
- Knowledge and application of health and safety policy and legislation
- Excellent people management skills with understanding of HR practice/policy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially during times of pressure.
- Excellent organisational and problem solving skills
- Ability to cope and implement change and manage resilience
- Practices openness, honesty and transparency
- Ability to identify and provide ranges of feedback, Ability to manage risk, risk assess and mitigate against risk.
- Ability to delegate authority to people and monitor against required outcomes
- Ability to easily share knowledge, teaching
- Demonstrate understanding and role in management of ED operational standards.
- Shift work will be required through the 24 hours period
- Take responsibility for own learning and performance manages staff in relation to recruitment, performance and absence
- Ensures performance reviews are undertaken (minimum of yearly)
- Ability to self-reflect.
