Role summary
This role is for a Healthcare Support Worker to provide direct patient care within one of the UK's largest NHS Hospital Trusts. You will assist registered practitioners with daily living tasks for patients, perform basic health checks, and ensure high-quality, compassionate care. No previous experience is required, and training will be provided, including support to obtain a care certificate. Vacancies are available across various divisions including Medicine, Surgery, and Critical Care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under supervision, assisting with daily living tasks like washing, dressing, and feeding.
- Monitor patients and perform basic health checks such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, and temperature.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity, ensuring their bed space is clean and accessible.
- Develop skills in obtaining consent, following care plans, and effective record-keeping.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
Essential criteria
- One of the following: o Level 3 (SCQF - 6): - City and Guilds 3 o NVQ 3 o BTEC National Diploma o T Level in Health and Social care. Experience equivalent to the above qualifications
- Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths, or equivalent
- Be able to work as a member of a team
- Experience of time management and prioritising work
- Experience of working in a health or social care setting
- Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
- IT skills, basic word, Email, keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
- Already working towards NVQ level 3 in care
- Care certificate
