Role summary
This is a full-time, 1-year fixed-term MRI Radiographer position covering maternity leave. The role involves delivering high-quality specialised imaging and providing professional support to the radiographic team. The successful candidate will conduct a wide range of MR scans on various patient types, working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role is based in a newly launched Community Diagnostic Centre, aiming to improve patient pathways and diagnostic care.
Essential criteria
- State Registered with the HCPC
- BSc or D.C.R.(R) in Radiography
- Postgraduate qualification in specialised imaging (M level)
- High Technical standards with proven evidence of CPD, clinical expertise in mammography and specialist knowledge of breast diseases
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience in student supervision
- Experience in Emergency Department imaging
- Evidence of multidisciplinary team working
- Post qualification experience
- Physical Skills
- Able to wear radiation protective clothing (5mm equivalence) and monitoring devices
- Be able to operate and move full range of radiographic equipment including over-couch tubes, mobile Image Intensifiers with monitors and mobile x-ray machines (motorised and non-motorised)
- Be able to operate manual handling aids, as provided by the department including patient slide boards, sheets, hoists and trolleys
- Be able to operate VDU equipment in both image acquisition and data management
- Be able to operate VDU equipment in both image acquisition and data management
- Abilities
- Must be able to demonstrate good technical knowledge and continue to development it
- Ability to work under extreme emotionally charged conditions
- Able to observe all legal requirements of the work, such as COSHH, the Health and Safety at Work Act, IR (ME) R and subsequent amending legislation.
- Must be able to work to short deadlines and have a flexible approach to workload
