Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Higher Biomedical Associate to join the Cellular Pathology team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The role involves supporting the day-to-day operational and technical activities of the Microbiology service, ensuring high standards and compliance with regulations. You will work alongside Specialist and Senior Biomedical Scientists, contributing to service delivery through the Quality Management System. The position requires a solid general histology background and offers development opportunities within a supportive team.
Key responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operational and technical activities of the Microbiology service.
- Work alongside Specialist and Senior Biomedical Scientists to deliver a high-quality service.
- Assist with the implementation of service developments and changes as directed.
- Adhere to and support departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Contribute to the training, development, and competency assessment of scientific and support staff.
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of biomedical procedures acquired through training to A level or NVQ3 level
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- IT knowledge and skills
- Competent to embed or section histology blocks
- Knowledge and experience of a Cellular Pathology laboratory within a UK laboratory
- Ability to assist a Pathologist and BMS dissection bench
