Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an Adult Registered Nurse to join the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) at Bedford Hospital as a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. The role involves leading a team, coordinating patient care, and ensuring a safe working environment in a fast-paced 30-bedded unit. The successful candidate will manage complex situations, deputise for the manager, and contribute to service improvement, focusing on high standards of care and patient safety.
Key responsibilities
- Take charge of shifts and effectively coordinate the team of RN's, CSW's, TNA's etc. to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct continuous risk assessments of patients and the ward, problem-solving issues as they arise.
- Deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence, communicating with various departments.
- Contribute to brainstorming, service improvement, and regular team meetings to develop and excel the service.
- Deputise for the Ward Manager and liaise with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective and efficient patient care.
- Communicate proactively with all staff on the clinical condition and treatment plan of patients and ensure accurate nursing records are maintained.
Essential criteria
- Relevant experience at Staff Nurse level in a clinical setting
- Experience in mentoring, assessing, coaching
- Leadership management, leading a team
- Previous experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of clinical governance
