Role summary
This role is for a mental health nurse, social worker, psychologist, or Allied Health Professional to join a CAMHS team. The practitioner will provide high-quality interventions including mental state assessment, risk assessment, family assessment, consultation, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for children and young people. The post holder will manage a defined caseload autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to professional practice guidelines and promoting partnerships with other agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for managing a defined caseload, exercising professional responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of children, young people, and their families/carers, including risk assessment.
- Develop formulations and intervention plans with children, young people, and parents/carers, communicating these to relevant professionals.
- Offer therapeutic, evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidelines.
- Implement, coordinate, and regularly review therapeutic interventions, including risk management.
- Routinely monitor the effectiveness of clinical work using Routine Outcome Measures (ROM).
Essential criteria
- You must be registered/accredited with a professional body: E.g., NMC, SW England, UKCP, HCPC, BACP
- You must have a recognised qualification. Recognised qualifications are: Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN, RNMH Social Work: CQSW/DipSW Occupational Therapy: Other relevant accreditable qualification
- Proven experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties.
- Experience of assessing and managing risk, including safeguarding
- Experience of developing and providing evidence based assessments, formulations and care plans
- Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies and professionals
- Experience of autonomously managing a caseload within a service
- Experience of mentoring and supervision of others
- Experience of working to clinical governance principles
- Experience of following organisational policies and procedures
- Up to date knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation.
- Understanding of evidence -based practice and the ability to demonstrate how this influences clinical practice
- The ability to assess, formulate and manage care appropriately, ensuring discharge is timely
- The ability to use assessment tools and outcome measures effectively and in collaboration with the child, young person and family
- Ability to manage and organise own time and diary and work flexibly and creatively in a clinical context
- The ability to maintain written and electronic clinical records.
Desirable criteria
- Qualifications in Psychological Therapies, e.g., CBT/SFT/IPT
- Mentorship course ENB998 or equivalent
- Experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health
- Experience of providing interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families
- Community mental health experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the research process
- IT competent

Job summary
We are seeking a mental health nurse, social worker, psychologist or any Allied Health Professional registered with a professional body to join our CAMHS team. The post is located in our well established partnership team. and you will receive regular supervision and support to develop your clinical skills. You will provide a range of high quality interventions appropriate to the child or young person's needs which will include; mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation, formulation and evidence based interventions. The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role in a multi-disciplinary team setting and will be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines. The post holder is also expected to promote and develop partnerships and interface with other professionals and agencies that work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services framework.
