Role summary
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Clinical Specialist Renal Dietitian for a 0.5 WTE, 1-year fixed-term contract (maternity cover). This role involves providing specialist nutritional care to renal patients, primarily within Haemodialysis units across NCL. The successful candidate will work autonomously, managing complex nutritional diagnoses and supporting junior staff within a multi-disciplinary therapy team.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
- Health Professions Council (HPC) registration
- Additional qualification or BDA accredited courses or equivalent in-house training e.g. PENG clinical update, renal course
- Experience of working in renal dietetics, IP, Pre Dialysis or Dialysis
Desirable criteria
- Membership of special interest group
- Evidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development
- Broad range of clinical experience, across a variety of clinical areas
- Experience of managing renal patients
- Motivational Interviewing/ Behaviour Change training (CBT or facilitation skills)
- Presentation to groups/teaching other Healthcare Professionals
- Student training and/or management of junior therapists
- Leadership in an audit or project, and knowledge of clinical standards in the management of chronic kidney disease
- Proficient use of PC & working knowledge of Microsoft Office and nutritional analysis software
- Experience of managing patients with CKD-MBD
- Skills and apptitudes
- Able to work autonomously and use initiative
- Ability to carry out nutritional assessments, such as anthropometry, subjective global assessment, bioelectrical impedance analysis, estimation of dietary intake of macro/micronutrients

Job summary
The Royal Free has an exciting opportunity in our Renal Team. We are seeking a Clinical Specialist Renal Dietitian for a 0.5 WTE, 1-year FTC (Maternity Cover) to work in our multi-disciplinary therapy team led by a Clinical Lead Renal Occupational Therapist and Clinical Lead Renal Dietitian, the team is made of dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and therapy assistants - across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Our team supports people living with kidney disease and urological conditions across three wards based at The Royal Free Hospital site, and 5 outpatient centres for low clearance, dialysis and transplantation. The Royal Free is the provider for NCL for urological care (medical and surgical) as well as being the NCL tertiary centre for chronic kidney disease management including renal transplantation. This role is based predominantly in renal outpatients based on Dialysis units across NCL.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated dietitian who demonstrates exceptional understanding of the complexity of a person living with CKD.
