Role summary
This role involves providing direct evidence-based therapeutic interventions and support to children and adolescents residing in Children's Homes within a CAMHS setting. You will offer expert clinical consultancy, supervision, and training to foster carers, staff, and managers caring for children with complex presentations. The position also requires assessing and treating generic referrals within Specialist CAMHS. This is a part-time role, working 22.5 hours per week.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical consultancy, support, and supervision/training to staff and managers caring for children and adolescents with complex needs in local authority residential homes.
- Conduct standardised clinical assessments for children and adolescents in secure accommodation settings.
- Offer assessments, consultation, and direct therapeutic support for care-experienced children and adolescents.
- Act as a resource for consultation by senior managers regarding support for local authority residential care managers and staff.
- Contribute to joint agency planning and support of the Children in Care Specialist Mental Health Service.
- Provide specialised psychological assessment of attachment patterns and complex trauma for young children with complex histories.
Essential criteria
- A relevant Specialist CAMHS core Professional Qualification e.g. Child Psychotherapy, Arts & creative therapies, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Nursing or Social Work.
- MSc/MA or equivalent post-graduate qualification in relevant profession/psychological therapies / psychology.
- Post registration clinical experience (with experience at Senior Level).
- Proven experience of providing multi-agency consultancy in a specialised field.
- Proven experience of direct clinical work with a complex client (child / young person and family) group.
- Clinical supervisory experience.
- Appraiser experience.

Job summary
Are you interested in working with Children in Care in a CAMHS setting? By joining us as a Children in Care Therapist you will be providing direct evidenced based therapeutic interventions and support to children and adolescents resident in Children's Homes and assess and treat generic referrals within Specialist CAMHS.
