Role summary
This role is for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Information Governance Officer to join a successful team working across the Northwest and beyond. The post holder will provide support to NHS and Public Sector clients, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations related to Information Governance, including Data Protection and GDPR. They will manage the Information Governance service for allocated clients, advise on strategic business planning, and manage the Data Security and Protection Toolkit. The role also involves internal DP and IG responsibilities for MIAA and its staff.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and perform the Information Governance service for allocated clients and staff within that function/workstream.
- Ensure all service standards comply with statutory or mandatory obligations and operate to the standard specified by the Assistant Director - Information Governance.
- Advise the Assistant Director - Information Governance and Principal Information Governance Officer on strategic business planning.
- Manage the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and associated activities for allocated clients.
- Manage information governance related enquiries and issues escalated from client organisations.
- Act as Delegated Information Asset Owner for the Information Governance Department Management System.
Essential criteria
- Relevant masters or equivalent experience
- Experience of managing an Information Governance function within a healthcare organisation.
- Experience of working with and supporting a range of staff.
- Experience of working with organisational and external stakeholders at all levels
- Experience translating legislation or other mandatory standards that are based on legislation or other mandatory standards and implementing them.
- Experience implementing information systems across a healthcare organisation.
- Expert knowledge in Information Governance policies, procedures, processes, and operational management
- Expert knowledge in Information Governance to interpret legislation and advise all Trust staff on given situations.
- Knowledge of Data Protection legislation
Desirable criteria
- Certified Data Protection Officer
- BCS/ISEB Practitioner certificate in Data Protection
- Relevant qualification/accreditation in the provision of training
- Experience in developing, auditing, and implementing action plans.
- Experience of analysing business information for the development of the relevant service.
- Experience in dealing with all Human resource staff issues
- Experience in dealing with all Health & Safety issues.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and policy
