Role summary
This role is for a compassionate Community Phlebotomist to join the Weymouth and Portland Community Team. You will primarily support District Nursing and Anticoagulation teams by performing venepuncture for housebound patients in their own homes. The position requires autonomous work managing your own workload, including timely delivery of blood samples to collection points. It is a part-time role of 24 hours per week, offering flexible working hours to support work-life balance.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake Community Phlebotomy for housebound patients in their own home.
- Support nursing team members with delivery of patient care.
- Support and liaise with doctors and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Process various specimens appropriately.
- Undertake blood pressure measurements and record correctly.
- Perform INR tests and work within standing operating procedure to deliver near patient testing service.
Essential criteria
- experience of working in a team
- experience of working with members of the public
- Basic IT skills normally obtained throughpractice or practice training OR demonstrable experience of using word processing.
- Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business. - Level 1

- Venepuncture/Phlebotomy Qualification
- Knowledge of role of HCA
- Knowledge of handling and processing specimens

Job summary
Are you a compassionate phlebotomist? Our Weymouth and Portland Community Team based at Weymouth Community Hospital are looking for a Community Phlebotomist to join their experienced team.
As the Community Phlebotomist you will support the DN and Anticoagulation teams and housebound patients with their venepuncture requirements. You will be able to work autonomously and manage your own workload (with support). You will be expected to visit patients in their own homes to take required bloods tests and deliver them back to the collection points in a timely manner.
The Community Phlebotomist is a part time role of 24 hours per week, 4 days a week, Monday to Friday. We like to promote a positive work life balance; we can be flexible with how working hours can be met. This includes start and finish times to support childcare/carers responsibilities.
