Role summary

This role supports the Apprenticeships and Widening Participation Lead to enhance understanding and uptake of apprenticeships and widening participation initiatives within the Trust. It involves working with managers and employees to facilitate professional and academic apprenticeship opportunities for career progression. The coordinator also supports widening participation for young people through work experience and career information. The position aims to effectively use the apprenticeship levy for workforce development and quality programmes.

Key responsibilities

  • Build networks and positive relationships with training providers and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure quality, effective, and efficient programme provision for apprenticeships and widening participation.
  • Share best practice for viable and consistent opportunities to access apprenticeship programmes.
  • Facilitate upskilling through functional skills and development opportunities for new and existing employees.
  • Carry out administrative tasks supporting the Trust's Education & Workforce strategies.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum requirement 3 A levels required for entry to degree level qualification / apprenticeship including maths and English GCSE grade 4/C /functional skills level 2
  • Level 3 Business Administration or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Advanced excel qualification or equivalent
  • IT qualification or equivalent supporting data analysis
  • Word Processing Qualification
  • Educated to degree Level 6 Apprenticeship ; including Maths and English functional skills as required or willingness to work towards
  • Previous experience of using all Microsoft Office software packages
  • High level skill using Excel - data management; manipulating/ presenting data for reports. Quality assurance processes to ensure accurate data is produced
  • Marketing and project management experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of social media
  • Proven ability to contribute to team working and to develop good working relationships with junior and senior team members
  • Able to work autonomously with proven experience
  • Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of handling confidential and sensitive material and information
  • Previous experience of working in an administration role
  • Ability to create Excel spreadsheets/graphs/ pivot tables
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Able to use own initiative
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable criteria

  • Educated to Diploma level 5 or Degree level 6 or equivalent subject level qualification or significant experience at a similar role in specialist area
  • Supervisory Line management qualification/training
  • Marketing/Social Media qualification
  • Current knowledge and / or experience of working with the apprenticeship agenda
  • Experience of working in an administration role as part of a team
  • Demonstrate ability to manage projects

Job summary

The Apprenticeships and Widening Participation Coordinator supports the Apprenticeships and Widening Participation Lead to increase the knowledge and understanding of apprenticeships and widening participation in the Trust. Supporting workforce development and quality programmes effectively using the apprenticeship levy.

Working with all service managers and Trust employees to facilitate opportunities to undertake a wide range of professional and academic apprenticeship in support of role development and career progression for employees working at all levels across the Trust.

Working across the Trust to support and develop widening participation for young people with work experience, and career information.
