Role summary
This part-time Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner role supports qualified Physiotherapists in delivering treatment to adult patients in the Redcar area. The position involves assisting with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, classes, and issuing walking aids. There are opportunities for clinical and administrative skill development, with strong support for continuing professional development and clinical supervision. The role requires a keen interest in patient rehabilitation and may involve working across multiple sites within University Hospitals Tees.
Essential criteria
- To have achieved a good general education including English Language and Mathematics at key skills level
- Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care OR Equivalent Level 3 Qualification OR Level 3 Apprenticeship in relevant clinical care. OR Health and Science T-Level AND/OR Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3
Desirable criteria
- such as short courses relevant to physiotherapy delivery.
- Substantial experience of working in a rehabilitation health care setting or an exercise environment
- Knowldege and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and active listening skills. Ability to adopt appropriate styles and methods of communication.
- Time-keeping, planning and prioritisation skills.
- Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
- Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions.
- Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation. Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Safeguarding. Understanding work-related boundaries.
- Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality
- Basic Moving and Handling Skills.
- Ability to self direct further learning.

Job summary
26.25 Hours per week
Due to partial retirement we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Physiotherapy Assistant on a part-time basis who will work along side our existing Community Outpatient Physiotherapy team based at Redcar Primary Care Hospital delivering physiotherapy to the adult population in the Redcar vicinity.
You will be offered the opportunity to develop both clinical and administrative skills. There is a strong commitment to continuing professional development and we offer excellent clinical supervision, appraisal and opportunity to work closely with specialist MSK physiotherapists in a friendly and supportive environment.
We are looking for an applicant with a keen interest in the rehabilitation of patients.
The role may involve working at one of our 4 main sites.
Main duties of the job
You will give support to the qualified Physiotherapists to provide Physiotherapy treatment to patients attending the Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy departments, assisting with classes and issuing walking aids.
The team works closely with the Orthopaedics, Musculoskeletal and Spinal Clinic teams
There may be an element of administrative support.
There may be occasions when you will be required to work at one of our other localities
