Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and committed Band 6 Rotational Midwife to join the maternity services team at ESNEFT Colchester Hospital. You will work across various clinical areas, providing safe, personalised, and high-quality maternity care to women and families throughout their journey. The post involves assessing care needs, developing and implementing care programmes, and potentially teaching other staff. You will be part of the Midwifery Team, delivering individualised care in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods within the hospital setting.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of individualised care in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period in the hospital setting.
- Assess care needs, and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care without supervision.
- Teach other midwifery and non-midwifery staff as required.
- Take charge regularly of an award or equivalent sphere of midwifery care in the absence of the midwife who has continuing responsibility.
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife.
- Knowledge of NMC Handbook of midwives Rules, Code of Professional Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and its application to clinical practice.
- Evidence of clinical experience following completion of preceptorship.
- Ability to utilise audit and research findings in order to improve women's care
Desirable criteria
- Has comprehensive knowledge of current practice in Midwifery.
- Practice assessor/Practice Supervisor training
- Understands the concept of mentorship

Job summary
ESNEFT Colchester Hospital Maternity Services are looking for enthusiastic and committed Band 6 Midwives to join our friendly and dedicated team.
As a Band 6 Rotational Midwife , you will have the opportunity to work across the maternity service, gaining valuable experience in a variety of clinical areas and supporting women and families throughout their maternity journey.
You will work closely with women, their families and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide safe, personalised and high-quality maternity care. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about midwifery, committed to delivering excellent standards of care and who demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
We have two post full time until 26th April 2027 and 20th June 2027.Part time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
