Role summary
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity for a District Nurse Lead within the West Dorset District Nursing team. The role involves operational leadership of four District Nursing teams covering Bridport, Beaminster, and Lyme Regis, focusing on high-quality, person-centred integrated care. The post holder will manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams, champion clinical standards, and contribute to service planning and development. This is a key leadership position, working alongside a clinical lead to support teams within the West Dorset Locality.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for operational leadership of four District Nursing teams.
- Ensure the delivery of high quality person centred services with a focus on integrated care.
- Day-to-day management and leadership of district nursing teams and specialist practitioners.
- Act as a champion for clinical standards and continuous improvement in service user experience.
- Contribute to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, locality and government objectives.
- Provide an interface between the District Nursing service, Hub and the Primary Care network.
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in District Nursing, Public Health, Nurse Practitioner or equivalent
- Evidence of CPD including training and reflective practice
- Ability to lead a team to maintain a high stand of care provided to our patients in their homes and in residential care
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance
- Knowledge and understanding of current national and government issues relating to community services
- Ability to identify staff training needs and promote personal/professional
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise many competing demands of workloads, both clinical and managerial
- Open and approachable
- Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act 2010, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable the post holder to carry out the role effectively.
