Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time, fixed-term Band 6 Deputy Team Leader in the Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Team. The role involves supporting the Team Leader in providing clinical leadership and first-line management for the team, working within East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen. The service aims to provide comprehensive perinatal mental health care, focusing on improving outcomes for women, infants, and families through effective multidisciplinary working and early intervention. The post holder will contribute to delivering high-quality care and supporting staff development.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Team Leader to provide clinical leadership and first line management for The Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Team.
- Ensure staff have opportunities for continuing professional development to meet registering body requirements and drive improvements in clinical practice.
- Provide direct clinical care to patients.
- Work with senior clinicians to actively lead in the delivery of clinical governance, quality improvement, and performance management.
Essential criteria
- Must hold a Mental Health professional qualification (RMN/OT/SW)
- Completion of, or commitment to working towards, Management or Leadership training
- Documented evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
- Expert knowledge on mental health issues and how these impact on the individual, carer's and the wider community
- Expertise in current best practice in Perinatal Mental Health , and awareness of relevant government directives and legislation
- Specialist knowledge and application of mental health assessments and interventions using expert level clinical reasoning
- Post registration experience in a community mental health service
- Familiarity with audit processes
- Use of evidence-based practice
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent presentation and training skills
- Ability to work autonomously and set own and others' priorities

The postholder will support the Team Leader to provide clinical leadership and first line management for The Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Team, working within East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen.
The SPCMHT aspires to provide an excellent comprehensive Perinatal Mental Health Service for the women of Lancashire and South Cumbria.
