Role summary

The Information Governance (IG) Officer works with the Trust Secretary, Senior Information Risk Officer, and Caldicott Guardian to ensure IG policies and procedures align with best practice and standards are adhered to. This role involves supporting the Trust's self-assessment against national IG standards. The post holder will also promote IG awareness through training and act as the first point of contact for IG matters.

  • A minimum of 1 years' experience across one or more of the following areas: Law, Freedom of Information Act, Information Governance administration (including delivery of the IG Toolkit)
  • An understanding of Subject Access Requests, Individual rights requests and Data protection Complaints
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Previous Freedom of Information experience

To support the promotion of information governance awareness throughout the Trust by providing training and written procedures that are widely disseminated and made available to all staff. This will include face to face delivery of information governance training at staff induction and mandatory training sessions for all levels of staff.
