Job summary
Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - School Nursing
If you are a qualified nurse, you are invited to apply for the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing - School Nurse training in the academic year 2027. This will be offered as a full time opportunity only. A full-time course comprises of 52 weeks of study, of which 45 weeks are spent in education and clinical practice within the Trust. You will study at the University of Greenwich, commencing in January 2027.
The salary, while training, will be to a maximum of point 3 on the Agenda for Change Band 5 scale as directed by Health Education England.
Main duties of the job
School nurses lead in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme: From 5-19 years old (DH 2009) delegating to and supervising the work of the skill mix team, while also working in partnership with local service providers to develop and support services to children and families within schools and the local community.
Every day working as a School Nurse is different, with responsibilities including health assessments for CSE, Mental Health and safeguarding, and working with a range of local children's agencies and professionals.
