Role summary

This role involves producing timely, accurate, and intelligent business intelligence to support operational and strategic decision-making within the Welsh Ambulance NHS Trust. The Senior Information Analyst will work with the digital team to deliver information and digital solutions, fulfilling statistical returns, ad-hoc data analysis requests, and developing new information solutions using Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack, SSRS, and PowerBI. The successful candidate will build relationships with clinicians and operational colleagues, providing actionable insights and managing their workload to meet deadlines.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce timely, accurate and intelligent business intelligence and information.
  • Inform operational and strategic decision-making processes.
  • Perform predefined statutory statistical returns.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc requests for data analysis.
  • Develop new information solutions using Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack, SSRS and PowerBI.
  • Build close working relationships with senior clinicians, operational colleagues and support staff.

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and post qualification learning and development.
  • Significant experience and higher knowledge gained by working with senior practitioners within the field of health informatics and through specialist technical training.
  • Specialist advanced information analysis skills including forecasting and modelling techniques.
  • Experience of using intermediate to advanced level of Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts, procedures and functions, gained through specialist training and practical experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of data standards, data quality techniques and processes.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL Scripting
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level Microsoft Reporting Services.
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Desirable criteria

  • Post Graduate Qualifcation e.g. Masters Degree
  • Experience of advanced statistical modelling and analysis techniques using specialist/bespok e software algorithms/ mathematical computations.
  • SSIS and SSAS.
  • Statistical modelling of service activity scenarios.
  • Infographics and Data Visualisation through industry standard software eg. Qlik, tableau.
  • Ability to speak Welsh.

The role of Senior Information Analyst is responsible for the production of timely, accurate and intelligent business intelligence and information to inform the operational and strategic decision-making process - it is through the business intelligence provided by analysts that the Trust drives continuous clinical and quality improvement for the people of Wales.
