Role summary
This role is for a dynamic, highly motivated, and enthusiastic registered children's nurse to join the Bank team at QE Gateshead. You will work within the Pea Pod, Day Unit, and Outpatient area, delivering high-quality care to children and their families. Flexibility is essential to meet service needs, and successful candidates will contribute to a compassionate paediatric service.
Key responsibilities
- Promote and deliver patient-centred care aligned with Trust vision and Nursing and Midwifery strategy.
- Deliver all aspects of care, demonstrating procedures and supervising qualified and/or unqualified staff as required.
- Manage the patient's clinical journey along agreed care pathways, supported by evidence-based practice.
- Provide the highest standard of safe, effective, and compassionate care in line with standards and the NMC Code.
- Support a continuously improving service within the clinical governance framework.
- Provide clinical advice and support to the nursing and multi-professional team for effective patient care.
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Childrens Nursing
- NMC registered Children's Nurse
- Recent experience with children and young people
- NHS Experience
- Taking and recording of observations
- Recognition of the sick child
- Upto date with current issues in paediatric nursing
- Ability to prioritise workload
- IT skills
- Organisational Skills
Desirable criteria
- Teaching and assessing Qualification
- Experience working in the emergency care setting
- Phlebotomy and cannulation

Job summary
We are seeking dynamic, highly motivated, enthusiastic registered children's nurses to join our Bank team at QE Gateshead. Successful candidates will work as part of the nursing team within the Pea Pod, Day Unit and Outpatient area to ensure high quality care is delivered to children, their families / carers requiring specialist support and advice throughout their pathway.
Flexibility is essential to support the service as and when required to meet the needs of the service.
