Role summary
This role is for a Band 5 Management Accountant to join a supportive finance team. The successful candidate will be AAT qualified or equivalent, with experience in management accounting. They will work independently, build relationships with budget holders, and ensure accurate financial reporting while supporting service development. The position offers flexible working and a fully funded study package for professional development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high level financial expertise and advice to managers.
- Support managers with the development and delivery of their Annual Plan.
- Co-ordinate, evaluate and review the production of monthly Management Reports.
- Produce detailed workings for budget setting, including evaluation, analysis, and reconciliation to the Care Groups financial plan.
- Provide financial advice to aid the production of Business Cases.
- Supervise junior BDU/support services management accounts staff.
Essential criteria
- Track record of day to day management of wide portfolio of budgets including :
- Co-ordinating and undertaking detailed workings on budget setting;
- Co-ordinating and producing monthly management reports;
- Analysis and investigation of more complex variances;
- Calculate year end forecasts on pay and non pay budgets;
- Intelligence gathering to support senior staff in analysis and decision making;
- Ability to problem solve analyse issues and develop options for a solution;
- Undertake project or business case costing with some supervision;
- Provide support to budget managers and non finance staff.
- Track record of supervision of staff.
- Delegation of work within small team and management of delivery to deadlines.
- Provide technical support to project work internal and external to finance.
- Good understanding of operation of financial ledger.
- Good understanding of budget setting processes.
- Able to produce clear working papers which can be understood by finance managers and budget holders.
- Undertake complex or technical analysis to support reporting or specific project work.
- Good understanding of financial processes and able to design and implement improvements.
- Understanding of external reporting and accounting policies in relation to production of Annual Accounts.
- Able to develop good working relationships with budget holders and their teams co ordinate the provision of reliable , relevant accurate and timely information.
- AAT equivalent experience.
- Substantial experience in management accounts.
- Effective time management.
- Can undertake a Leadership role in the team.
- Good team worker.
- Able to co ordinate effort.
- Able to work flexibly to meet changes in priorities.
- Can deliver to deadlines.
- Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).
- Ability to travel around the wider Trust.
