Role summary
This role is for a dedicated and highly skilled Band 7 Breast Nurse Specialist to support the Breast pathway, primarily focusing on the Breast Mastalgia pathway. The specialist will deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with breast conditions, acting within professional boundaries and continuously developing skills. They will provide expert clinical advice, coordinate services, and facilitate the patient journey within a multidisciplinary team. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the actual duration adjusted from the start date.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients throughout their treatment pathway, focusing on the Breast Mastalgia pathway.
- Achieve clinical leadership, coordination, and delivery/development of One Stop Breast Service, Breast Pain Service, and Breast Follow up Clinics.
- Provide expert clinical advice and support to clinical staff within the organisation and primary services on patient management.
- Effectively liaise with multidisciplinary teams and services to maintain excellent working relationships.
- Demonstrate personal strength and professional behaviour under stressful and difficult situations.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse, 1st level with current NMC Registration.
- Evidence of on-going professional development within breast
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience as a registered nurse with recent experience within Breast or oncology
Desirable criteria
- Counselling Skills Training.
- Research audit skills

Job summary
The Surgical Care group is looking to recruit a dedicated and highly skilled Band 7 Breast Nurse Specialist to support the Breast pathway , in main supporting the Breast Mastalgia pathway.
You would need to be an experienced Breast nurse acting within your professional boundaries and willing to develop your skills. As a Breast CNS you will play a vital role in delivering specialised nursing care to the patients with Breast conditions. Your expertise will contribute to a high quality care and positive patient experience.
You should have excellent communication skills both verbally and in written. You will be proactive in ensuring that your clinical expertise is up to date to contribute as a role model to the service. You will be a member of the Trust's Breast team and undertake the role of the CNS supporting and facilitating the patients journey. You would be working in a collaborative manner, providing clear decision making skills in consultation with medical and nursing staff. You will ensure that they protect and promote patient safety at all times.
