Role summary
This is a part-time Senior Mammographer role at St Albans City Hospital, working 15 hours per week. The post holder will provide high-standard radiographic services, supervise junior staff, and work closely with the Lead Mammographer and Breast Consultant. The role involves being an integral member of the mammography and one-stop breast services, ensuring excellent patient experience and meeting performance standards.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of radiographic services to Radiologists, patients and service users.
- Supervise junior staff and students.
- Work closely with the Lead Mammographer, Breast Consultant, Radiology Breast Consultants and Radiology management team.
- Work alongside clinical and non-clinical colleagues to provide the best possible patient experience.
- Deputise for the lead Mammographer in their absence, assisting and supporting to deliver departmental strategic and operational priorities.
Essential criteria
- BSc or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography.
- Post graduate certificate/diploma in Mammography.
- HCPC registration.
- Legislation regarding ionising radiation.
- Proven knowledge base of mammography and NHSBSP.
- Clinical & information governance and evidence-based practice.
- Evidenced experience in Mammography.
- Experience of working with other divisions/interpersonal skills.
Desirable criteria
- Management/Leadership qualification or experience.
- Knowledge of change management.
- Understanding of recent developments with Mammography/Radiology/NHS.
- Teaching, training, mentoring experience.

Job summary
We are looking for a Senior Mammographer to join our radiographic workforce at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust.
The post is 15 hours per week, equivalent to two days, in St Albans City Hospital.
The purpose of this mammography post is to be an effective member of the Radiography team, providing a high standard of radiographic services to Radiologists, patients and service users.
There will be an expectation to supervise junior staff and students.
