Role summary
This role is for a clinical support worker in the Gynaecology Outpatients Department. The successful candidate will assist doctors and qualified nursing staff in providing high-quality, evidence-based care to patients. Duties include routine tasks, personal care, and accurate patient record-keeping. The department is described as enthusiastic, supportive, and teamwork-oriented.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the provision of service and contribute to the effective running of the outpatient department.
- Assist doctors and qualified nursing staff with the provision of high-quality evidence-based and individualised care of patients.
- Provide care and support to relatives and carers attending the outpatient department.
- Undertake and be responsible for routine tasks under the supervision of the qualified nurse, such as preparation of notes and equipment.
- Support and provide personal care, including hygiene, catheter care, and escorting patients.
- Accurately perform and record generic patient records (e.g., baseline observations, weight, height, urinalysis, pregnancy testing).
Essential criteria
- Good Basic Education
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
- Evidence of Professional / Vocational Development
- Manual Handling & Lifting
- Demonstrative experience in a similar role in a caring profession
- Clerical experience
- Prepared to undertake Personal Development & Training
- Understanding of Confidentiality
