NHS Trusts cannot issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for part-time, bank, locum, zero-hours, job-share or short fixed-term (under 12 months) contracts under current Home Office rules. This applies even when the wider Trust holds a Skilled Worker licence.
Role summary
This role involves supporting children and young people with eating disorders and their families through recovery. You will help stabilise eating patterns, develop positive routines, and deliver care plans under supervision. Key tasks include monitoring physical health observations, conducting blood tests and ECGs, and supporting psychoeducation groups. The position requires a compassionate and organised individual to work in a community setting.
Key responsibilities
- Support children and young people and their families with eating disorder recovery plans.
- Help stabilise eating patterns and develop positive routines.
- Work alongside clinicians to deliver agreed care plans and interventions.
- Monitor and record physical health observations such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and weight.
- Complete blood tests & ECG's.
- Support psychoeducation groups and family interventions.
Essential criteria
- Foundation degree in relevant subject or Diploma/NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or accredited prior learning with competency based evidence supplemented by short courses
- Significant experience of working with children with Mental Health Needs as a member of a multidisciplinary community team Experience of working within a multi-agency framework
- Experience of formulating a child's difficulties and developing a care plan
- Experience of employing evidenced based interventions with children
- Experience of supporting other workers and role modelling recommended approaches / interventions in practice.
- Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
- Ability to deal with non- routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient/ service user contact.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non- verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues.

- Experience of working with people who may have Mental Health concerns
- Experience of working with young people with eating disorders

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Senior Support Worker to join ourChildren and Young People's Eating Disorders Team . This is a unique opportunity to support young people and their families through recovery while working as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team.
In this role, you will work directly with children and young people experiencing eating disorders, helping them and their families build healthier routines, improve wellbeing and remain supported within their home and community.
