Role summary
This role involves delivering sexual health promotion and outreach screening services across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The worker will engage with individuals in various community settings, venues, and events, focusing on those who face barriers to healthcare access. The position aims to provide high-quality sexual health information, advice, and support, contributing to a comprehensive sexual health service. It supports vulnerable communities, reduces health inequalities, and empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their sexual health.
Essential criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to deal effectively with a range of queries from multi-professional colleagues, external providers and clinical staff
- Ability to communicate with all levels of staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills and administrative ability

- Experience of working in a team
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of common contraceptive methods
- Educated to GCSE standard with passes at grade C or above for English and Maths or similar through vocational training
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent
- Evidence of continuing development (work related training programme / commencement of further study)
- Experience of screening for sexually transmitted infections and taking blood samples in asymptomatic individuals
- Sexual health promotion experience
- Experience in positive engagement with hard to reach vulnerable populations
- Partnership/liaison/networking skills
- Ability to manage a variety of activities, groups and individuals
- Knowledge of sexual health services within the NHS
- Excellent IT and keyboard skills
- NHS Experience
- Experience in handling highly sensitive situations empathically
- Experience of STI screening, including taking blood samples, in asymptomatic individuals
- Experience of developing reports
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Ability to adapt to interruptions and changing prioritie
- Contribute to setting team priorities and develop work programmes for department
- Ability to organise pieces of work involving input from other people, to ensure completion in a timely manner
- Demonstrates a flexible and pragmatic approach to problem solving
- Able to use a computer for prolonged periods
- Able to transport resources to different sites or work
- Contractual Requirements
- Must be able to work across various sites across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (encompasses Nottingham City areas, Nottingham County areas, Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark, Sherwood, Worksop and Retford to cover the Bassetlaw population)
- Flexible and adaptable, including ability to work out of hours
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Full driving licence with the use of own vehicle and able to travel between locations
