Role summary
This role is for a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the Specialist Eating Disorders Unit at Haldon Unit in Exeter. The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated team, participating in a 24/7 rota and acting as Nurse in Charge. Key responsibilities include demonstrating sound clinical decision-making, providing person-centred care, and supporting patients at mealtimes, including learning NG feeding skills. The role offers an excellent induction program for eating disorders.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in the internal 24 hours, 7 day a week rota to meet the needs of people who use our services.
- Demonstrate effective working in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
- Demonstrate sound clinical decision making and clinical leadership skills for running the ward as the Nurse in Charge.
- Provide person-centred, compassionate and caring support to patients.
- Support patients at mealtimes and learn additional clinical skills such as NG feeding.
- Lead by example and support junior staff through supervision and when leading the shift.
Essential criteria
- RMN/ Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current registration.
- A willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical Interventions training with adjustments considered if required)
- Experience working as a Band 5 RMN
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with people with an eating disorder
