Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Therapy Technician to work with adult patients in a multi-disciplinary team at Magnolia Unit, St Michael's Primary Care Unit in Enfield. The service provides short-term inpatient nursing and therapy for rehabilitation, reablement, and recovery. The post holder will provide therapy assessments and interventions under supervision, supporting rehabilitation programmes, and visiting patients at home for assessments and equipment provision. The role involves working as part of a 7-day therapy service and may require working at various sites.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake clinical work delegated by qualified therapy staff (Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, and other AHPs).
- Be responsible for a designated caseload of patients.
- Work effectively as a team member in providing ward-based therapeutic activities (individual & group based).
- Contribute to all stages of the therapeutic process, including information gathering, simple assessments, and provision of aids and equipment.
- Identify needs, form goals, and plan interventions, including therapeutic advice, mobility, transfers, functional, ADL based rehabilitation programmes, and patient education.
- Evaluate patient progress through regular re-assessment and contribute to formal therapy assessments and feedback.
Essential criteria
- Relevant qualification e.g. Health & Social Care NVQ 3 or equivalent.
- Training courses relevant to care group Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Inpatient, ward based.
- English qualification at GSCE or equivalent level.
Desirable criteria
- Speech and Language Therapy related training.
- EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
- Experience working within a rehabilitation setting, delivering care to patients with physical or mental problems.
- Experience working within a rehabilitation setting, delivering care to patients with physical or mental problems. Evidence of working with and caring for adults either in an acute / intermediate care wards or community NHS setting.
- Understanding of therapy outcome measures and assessment tools.
- Knowledge of the ranges of equipment relevant to clinical area.
- Use of Careflow/ EPR/ RIO
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work autonomously & set own priorities
- Therapy rehabilitation skills- Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy
- Word processing and PC skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and patients.
- Ability to recognise and work with diversity.
- Willingness to undertake further training and develop clinical skills and competency relevant to the role.
- Ability to organise & respond effectively to complex information.

Job summary
This role is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate who wishes to work with the adult patient group in a friendly and motivated multi-disciplinary team at magnolia Unit based at St Michael's Primary Care Unit in Enfield.
This service provides short term Inpatient nursing and therapy services to patients admitted for rehabilitation, reablement and recovery promoting independence and encouraging integration back to the community. The post holder will provide therapy assessments and interventions within the remit of their role to inpatients under the supervision of the senior therapy clinicians within the team.
The post holder will be required to support the delivery of rehabilitation and recovery programmes including individualised and group based therapeutic sessions and education / enabling programmes and to visit patients in their own homes to carry out prescribed treatment and assess for and provide appropriate mobility aids and equipment directly or by prescription.
The postholder may be required to work at various sites as part of the role to support Inpatient services, including out in the community in people's homes and be part of a 7 day therapy service as directed by the Integrated Therapies Lead.
