Role summary

This is an Assistant Psychologist post within the Assertive Community Engagement (ACE) team in South Shropshire. The role involves working with individuals experiencing serious, complex psychosis, engaging them in psychological interventions, and contributing to team formulations. The post-holder will provide psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions under supervision, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Research skills will be utilised for audit, teaching, policy, service development, and research.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions under the supervision of a senior psychologist.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-agency team.
  • Utilise research skills for audit, teaching, policy, service development, and research.
  • Compile and disseminate relevant resources.
  • Promote and maintain good working relationships with clients, families, carers, and external agencies.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of individual and group interventions using evidence-based psychological therapies.

Essential criteria

  • A First or Upper Second honours degree in psychology OR a lower class with a post-graduate qualification e.g.: Masters degree.
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Experience of working with people in a clinical or other supportive environment
  • Experience of working therapeutically with people with severe mental health problems

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of further training
  • Experience of working with people with substance/alcohol misuse. Experience of working with people with psychosis. Experience of working with people experiencing psychological trauma.

A B4 Assistant Psychologist post in the Assertive Community Engagement team (part of South Shropshire CMHS) in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Care Group (MPFT).
