Role summary
This role is for a compassionate and experienced registered nurse to join the oncology ward as a Charge Nurse. You will provide leadership and expertise in caring for cancer patients, including those undergoing SACT or managing complications. The position involves supporting the ward manager and multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality care within a haematology and oncology setting. You will also be responsible for supervising staff and ensuring evidence-based clinical practice.
Essential criteria
- NMC registration
- RN or Degree or equivalent or further studies a in relevant subject.
- SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy)/Chemotherapy competency
- Mentorship, Practice Assessor, or Practice Supervisor qualification (as per NMC standards)
- Skills adn abilities
- Competence in oncology nursing procedures and treatments
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision making skills
- Good teaching, mentoring, and coaching skills.
- Ability to manage clinical risks and recognise deteriorating patients
- Organisational and prioritizing skills

- Advance communication skills
- PICC Placer or willing to undertake training

- Significant post-registration nursing experience, including experience within an oncology/haematology setting.

Job summary
We are looking for a registered Nurse who is compassionate, accountable and has extensive experience and skills to support staff in our oncology ward. The oncology ward cares for patients with solid tumours and haematological disorders and has a dedicated bed for those patients requiring inpatient Radioactive iodine, throughout all stages. We are looking for a Registered Nurse who is motivated, passionate, and willing to support the ward manger in leading a team of nurses with varying level of ward experience.
In your role you will provide the ward with leadership, expertise in caring for cancer patients who are admitted for SACT or SACT complications or progression of their cancer diagnoses and you can lead and support the ward manger and the MDT team within a haematology and or oncology unit setting in providing the appropriate care for this group of patients.
