Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Medical Secretary Supervisor to join the North Cornwall Adult Community Mental Health Team. You will provide secretarial support to Consultant Psychiatrists and their teams, and supervise medical secretarial teams in North and East Cornwall. The position requires a caring and sensitive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a varied and challenging workload. Flexibility and good time management are essential for this rewarding role.
Essential criteria
- Level 4 Business Administration or equivalent knowledge or experience
- RSA/OCR III Word-Processing or equivalent
- Medical Secretary Diploma or equivalent knowledge or experience
- RSA/OCR II Audio-Typing or equivalent knowledge or experience
- GCSE Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- Supervisory / Management Qualification or equivalent experience or knowledge
- Previous secretarial/administration experience of working in a clinical environment
- RSA/OCR III Audio-Typing or equivalent knowledge or experience
- Knowledge and abilities
- Minute taking
- Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
- Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to changing priorities, re-organising own and team's workload to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience

Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, adaptable and well-motivated Medical Secretary Supervisor to join the North Cornwall Adult Community Mental Health Team providing secretarial support to Consultant Psychiatrists and their teams as well as supervising the medical secretarial teams in North and East . The post holder should demonstrate a caring and sensitive approach to their work and be able to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, patients, carers, the general public and representatives from other hospitals and organisations.
Main duties of the job
To maintain confidentiality at all times and sensitivity when dealing with contentious and complex information.
Co-ordinate and organise action arising from correspondence and ensure prompt and efficient response, as required, by the Consultants and Junior Medical Support Staff.
Co-ordination with other professionals, outside Agencies, legal staff, Trust staff etc.
Responsible for up-to-date maintenance of diaries for the medical team.
Maintain clinic lists to ensure clients are seen within key target times.
Attend meetings, as necessary, take and transcribe minutes, follow actions notes and disseminate information as required.
