Role summary
This role is for a qualified and accredited DBT Therapist to join the DBT team within the Harrogate and Ripon Community Mental Health Team. The post involves delivering a comprehensive DBT programme, including individual therapy, skills training groups, and inter-session coaching. It also includes high-risk management, consultation, and leadership activities like supervision and service evaluation. Applicants for a training role at Band 6 will be considered if they have a core mental health qualification and a strong interest in DBT.
Essential criteria
- Working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems
- Delivering psychological therapy in ownfield
- Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Assessing and managing risk of self
- Working in multi-disciplinary team settings
- Delivering clinical supervision
- Delivering staff training -harm / suicide
Desirable criteria
- Experience of psychological therapy provision in complex cases
- RMN or equivalent mental health core qualification
- AND - Registration with a professional regulatory body (HCPC, GMC, NMC or Social Work England). (If a different regulatory body please seek advice from Head of Psychological Professions)
- AND - Accreditation in one of the four Governed Psychological Therapies outlined in the table below
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Accreditation as a Dialectical Behavioural Therapist with the Society for Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (SfDBT).
- AND - Evidence of continuing professional Development
- Evidence- based practice relevant to the role
- Risk assessment and risk management
- Clinical governance
- Legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
- Awareness of: The Trust's Quality Improvement System

Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a qualified and accredited DBT Therapist to work as part of the DBT team in the Harrogate and Ripon Community Mental Health Team.
If we are unable to appoint an accredited DBT therapist at band 7 level, we will also consider applicants for a training role at band 6. These applicants will be required to have either RMN or equivalent mental health core qualification at degree level post 1993 and be registered with a professional regulatory body. They will have experience of delivering psychologically informed interventions to people experiencing severe mental health problems in a secondary care setting. They will be required to have a strong demonstrable interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and to have completed DBT training with a licenced DBT training provider to either Foundation (five days) or Intensive (10 days) level. We would also consider applicants with Essential Skills (2 day) training or Trust Introduction to DBT (3 day) training. A willingness to engage in further study and practice towards eventual accreditation as a DBT therapist is essential. During training, placement outside the Harrogate locality may be required.
