Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Learning Disability Nurse to join the Specialist Learning Disability Inpatient Nursing Team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The role involves providing assessment and treatment inpatient services to people with a learning disability who experience mental ill health and/or associated challenging behaviour or complex needs. You will deliver evidence-based, high-quality nursing care within a multidisciplinary framework, supporting positive health outcomes through specialist therapeutic interventions and the development of individual Positive Behavioural Support Plans.
Key responsibilities
- Act as Named or Associate Nurse for a defined client group.
- Facilitate the assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of care through to discharge.
- Provide compassionate and professional nursing care with minimal supervision.
- Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Take charge of the ward, or an equivalent sphere of nursing practice, in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse/Charge Nurse.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individual Positive Behavioural Support Plans and provide specialist therapeutic interventions.
Essential criteria
- RNLD or RMN with relevant experience.
- Previous experience of working with people who have learning disabilities and mental health issues.
