Role summary
This role is for a motivated, compassionate, and experienced Staff Nurse to join a dedicated team at George Mackenzie House, a specialist secure service. You will deliver high-quality, compassionate, patient-centred care, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to implement personalised treatment plans. The position involves supporting patients holistically on their recovery journey, contributing clinical expertise to a therapeutic environment, and championing a patient-focused approach. The ideal candidate will have a strong teamwork ethic, positive attitude, and excellent communication skills.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Mental Health (RNMH) or other specialism relating to post such as Registered Nurse Learning Disability (RNLD)
- Experience of inpatient service and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of dealing with service users with complex mental health needs
- Experience of running, co-ordinating shifts as a nurse in charge
- Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, including IT literacy (MS Office)
- Ability to work as part of a team, as a role model, empowering and motivating other team members
- Enthusiastic, positive approach and can participate in full rotational shifts.
- Ability to carry out physical interventions (PMVA) as a last resort
- Ability to keep calm and respond appropriately under pressure
- Ability to take accountability and responsibility for the completion, follow through of duties assigned
- Knowledge & Understanding
- Thorough understanding of care planning
- Physical Requirements
- Physically able to undertake a demanding role safely and associated mandatory training (Breakaways, Physical intervention training)
