Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join a dynamic team, nationally recognised for innovation and service development. The successful candidate will work as a specialist clinical pharmacist across main hospital sites, delivering patient-centred care in both acute and community settings. The role involves providing highly specialised clinical services and advice, participating in ward rounds, and ensuring safe and effective medicines management. It also includes teaching and supervising less experienced pharmacists.

Essential criteria

  • Vocational masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Previous pre-registration training
  • Relevant post-registration hospital experience
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • IT skills to at least ECDL standard or equivalent experience
  • Independent Prescriber, or commitment to achieving this on appointment

  • Membership of Royal Pharmaceutical Society or organizations to assist personal and professional development
  • Achieved or working towards a postgraduate clinical qualification
  • Other
  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.

  • Knowledge and experience of the operation of NHS Organisations
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Must have highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools

This opportunity will allow successful candidates to work as a specialist clinical pharmacist within our pharmacy department across our main hospital sites, including The Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, as well as our base hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham.
