Role summary
The Capacity Manager is a high-profile and responsive role responsible for ensuring effective patient flow throughout the hospital. This involves escalating issues related to patient flow and capacity within their area and supporting the implementation of decisions made by senior medical and nursing teams. Essential criteria
- oEducated to Degree level or have obtained the equivalent experience of responsibilities listed within the job description oEvidence of Continuous Professional Development

- oFurther qualification or certificates from a healthcare or business management course
- oExperience of producing and interpreting information and data which can at times be sensitive or complex oExperience of working autonomously as well as working within multidisciplinary teams or cross-team working oExperience of Team leadership or supervision oExperience of conflict management oExperience of problem solving
- oExperience of working within an acute Hospital setting oExperience of hospital information systems

Job summary
A high profile, accessible and responsive capacity manager with responsibility for ensuring effective and efficient patient flow though the hospital pathway. Responsible for escalation of issues with patient flow and capacity within own area and ability to support the implementation of decisions taken by the Senior Medical and Nursing Teams, to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met.

Main duties of the job
To collate information relating to patient flow and allocate patients requiring admission, consulting with the management teams in a timely fashion. Ensuring correct priority is given to patients whilst balancing emergency and elective pressures.
To provide assistance to Ward staff in planning for and carrying out patient discharges. Work collaboratively with outside organisations and cross departmentally, to support patient care pathways including repatriation management and escalation.
