Role summary
This role is for a Band 5 Staff Nurse in the Endoscopy Unit, assisting in providing quality care for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures. The unit specializes in a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated, and committed to teamwork, with full training provided if endoscopy experience is limited. The unit operates Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 18:30.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- At least 6 months' experience in a acute set up
Desirable criteria
- Endoscopy training and/or JETS competencies
- Communication skills/training course
- Teaching and assessing of junior staff/students
- Appropriate experience within an acute clinical ward or area.
- Previous Endoscopy experience

An opportunity has arisen for dynamic individuals willing to learn some highly skilled endoscopy techniques and actively assist in providing quality care for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.
We are seeking an enthusiastic highly motivated nurse ideally with appropriate experience in an acute setting, with a commitment to team working and a keen interest in continuous improvement.
Experience in an endoscopy setting or gastro ward would be an advantage, but full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
The Royal Berkshire Endoscopy Unit is committed to delivering high quality patient-focused service, is a well-equipped and modern department which specializes in a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients attending as day cases, in-patients and emergencies.
We undertake the Bowel cancer Screening Programme as part of the National Screening Programme.
Following induction you will have the opportunity to undertake a number of specific endoscopy courses in line with your ongoing development programme.
