Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 6 Neonatal Nurse to join a dedicated team in a Level 1 Special Care Baby Unit. The role involves providing expert nursing care to neonates, supporting junior staff, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, family-centred care. You will coordinate shifts, prioritise care, and contribute to the development of others, while maintaining a supportive environment for families. Strong clinical knowledge, communication, and leadership skills are essential for this role.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality care to babies requiring additional monitoring and support.
- Coordinate care on a shift-by-shift basis and support junior staff.
- Ensure babies and their families receive compassionate, family-centred care.
- Mentor and support Band 5 nurses, neonatal support workers, and students.
- Communicate sensitively with parents, providing education, reassurance, and guidance.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Level 1)
- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
- Evidence of continued professional development and implementation in clinical practice within the last 12 months
- At least 3 years at Band 5 or equivalent
- Clinical audit and standard setting
- Working with a wide range of professionals
- Insight into clinical speciality
- Insight into current issues in nursing/ professional issues
- Standards of professional practice
- Ability to communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to teach, supervise and assess qualified and unqualified staff
- Time management skills
- Clinical leadership
- Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for post
- Excellent interpersonal skill
